SWINE FLU PANDEMIC

 PLEASE TELEPHONE TO CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR A VACCINE AND WHEN CLINICS ARE BEING HELD.

The symtoms of Flu are:

Sudden fever, Sudden cough, Headache, Chills, Aching Muscles, Limb or joint pain, Diarrhoea or stomach upset, Sore throat, Loss of appetite, Runny nose.

If you have flu like symptoms stay at home. You can check your symptoms by calling the Swine Flu Information Line on 0800 1 513 513. If you are still concerned contact NHS Direct Wales on 0845 4647.

If you are pregnant, have a chronic health condition or are seeking advice for a child under 5 years please contact NHS Direct Wales for further advice.

Do not go to your Accident & Emergency Department unless you are advised to do so or are seriously ill, as you may spread the illness to others.

 

Extended Surgeries

We provide one late evening surgery and two early morning surgeries specifically for patients who are working and have difficulty in attending during the day. The appoinments MUST be booked in advance.

Tuesday 6.30pm to 7.00pm

Wednesday 7.30am to 8.00am

Thursday 7.30am to 8.00am

The practice is continually striving to deliver a prompt and accurate service to our patients

You may request to see a GP of your choice and we will do our best to carry out your request depending upon availability

We encourage patients who not had a consultation in the last three years to attend for a health check, in addition patients over 75 can request a consultation every twelve months.

Routine appointments

All patients have the right to see a primary care professional within 24 hours and a GP within 48 hours.

On the day you need to see a doctor either telephone the surgery or call in person when reception is open (lines are open from 8.00am). All consultations are by appointment only. We do have a limited number of advance appointments available up to two weeks in advance.

Emergencies & Urgent Appointments

If you need to see a doctor urgently during opening hours then please explain briefly what the problem is, your call will triaged by a doctor who will ask you to attend if there is need.

Telephone Advice

A duty doctor is available from 8.00am - 6.30pm. Please explain the nature of your problem and the duty doctor will be happy to provide advice over the telephone.

Out of Hours

Any emergencies between 6.30pm - 8.00am weekdays,every weekend and every Bank Holiday are dealt with by Primecare. The Neath Port Talbot Local Health Board is responsible for Out of Hours and have appointed Primecare as their provider. Telephone the main surgery number and the recorded message will provide you with the necessary information to contact Primecare.

Home Visits

In general it is better we see you at the surgery where we can examine you and carry out tests more efficiently. You should only request a home visit when the patient is to ill to attend or is house bound. Please contact us as early as possible and the doctor will decide if a home vist is necessary.
